A little about Phillip Martin

Phillip has braved earthquakes and typhoons in the Philippines, survived malaria five times in Africa, faced a voodoo priestess in Haiti, and lived to tell about multiple bus, truck, and motorcycle accidents. It is Phillip’s goal to visit every country on the planet; he’s been to over 90 countries already!

As a full time artist, Phillip draws cartoons for websites, paints murals in far off corners of the globe to brighten the lives of children, and does free lance work when it comes his way.

He’s won many contests and received many awards including a recent one where his art will be displayed in the James Thurber exhibit. He won the Beyond War Award for his service in the Peace Corps. He donated his time to the New York Metropolitan Opera’s program for "Creating Original Opera" for kids. He’s taught art at several international schools, and taught an online course for the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He has illustrated six of our books!

He’s a busy guy, but he always saves time to create new art and new presentations in PowerPoint format to freely share with teachers and kids around the world.

When he’s not traveling, Phillip makes his home in Ohio in the USA.

A wonderful use of Phillip’s art

One day, our good friend, Phillip Martin received an email from a daycare facility for Aids orphans in Africa, asking permission to use Phillip’s art on the walls of their courtyard. Instead of just saying yes, Phillip used his Google AdSense earnings, and flew to Africa to help them paint it. What an adventure! Since then, he’s painted many murals in many far off places, as well as a few right here in the United States.

Come "Back to the Wall"
with the Mural Man, Phillip Martin
Don’t miss the kids sections!

Google did a video about Phillip!

A sharing note: My husband Don is a survivalist. Don is convinced that a box of orange garbage bags can save your life if you ever get lost in a snowstorm or lost in the woods. He makes everyone in the family carry a box of bright orange garbage bags in their car or backpack. Orange garbage bags can be used to signal for help (much easier to spot than a green garbage bag!) They can be used to catch food, hold water, hold body heat when used as a sleeping bag, and can be used to build a shelter. The above illustration is a bit of teasing fun from one survivalist (Phillip) to another (my husband Don), two of the craziest people I’ve ever met.

As you explore the free clipart Phillip has created, you’ll find humor in nearly all of them, like his clipart of a weatherman pointing his umbrella at my house. (For the record, it does not rain every day in Seattle. Just saying...)

Restrictions: If you wish to publish Phillip Martin’s clipart for profit, please E-mail the Artist about fees. For profit would include but is not limited to art used on billboards, company logos, posters, catalogues, and advertisements of any kind. Do not add this clip art to other clip art collections. Phillip’s free use offer is limited and is subject to the restrictions listed on his site: www.phillipmartin.com
